It is not easy to separate the best Chromebooks from the rest of the package, especially if they all have similar names and only a few (apart from Google) have a well-known reputation. They also differ in many ways, from simple, affordable laptops to high-end 2-in-1 laptops with touch screens. Chromebooks are best suited for students and ideal for those who are constantly connected to the Internet (we are not all today). In addition, many laptops offer excellent battery life, run Android applications, and offer Chrome OS, a lightweight alternative to Windows 10 and macOS. It is so low-maintenance that you will never think about system updates.
Chromebooks also takes all the hard work out of updating your system. Google’s ChromeOS downloads updates and installs them in the background and never bothers you during installation (sorry, Windows 10) or if you get errors downloading the latest version (sorry, macOS). And the updates are done quietly when you restart your Chromebook.

The overall best Chromebook, the Flip C436, is an excellent successor of the Flip C302CA, our previous topper. The super-small edges not only allow Asus to fit its large 14-inch screen into a smaller case than one would expect but also ensure that the display is both bright and colorful. In addition, the aluminum design offers a higher quality feel than many other chrome books. Oh, and I almost forgot: With a single charge, it lasts over 10 hours. All in all, this is the best Chromebook at the moment.

It may not have the battery life you expect from a Chromebook, but that can be excused if you look at how the Galaxy Chromebook breaks as many of the other rules as a Chromebook should be. The Fiesta Red case is more than an eye-catcher and drools before you can say: “Wow, is that a Chromebook? It even comes with the Samsung S-Pen pen, which can be used in tablet mode.
The Core i5 CPU is so fast that I watched four 1080p YouTube videos on it without stuttering to see if I could. Oh, it’s damn thin and light and competes in size and weight with the MacBook Air and the Dell XPS 13, but the best part is the beautiful 4K AMOLED screen that makes the colors stand out and offers bright tones. It’s so great that it reminds us to add Netflix Chrome support for 4K video.

For a premium Chrome OS experience, look no further than Google’s Pixelbook Go. Children may be mocking when their parents use the word “Chromebook” because it is synonymous with early education, but this is a Chromebook for all ages. First of all, the slim, lightweight design is available in two colors: only black and not pink, which makes this Pixelbook not look like a MacBook Air. Plus, the quiet and comfortable keyboard is ideal for typing late into the night when your roommates are asleep.
College students will also appreciate the Pixelbook Go when they need to get some air away from a power adapter. The Pixelbook Go lasted over 11 hours in our battery test. Oh, and don’t let your students think that the Pixelbook Go does not have the speed they need: It has Intel Core m3 via Core i7 CPUs, so you don’t have to be satisfied with that, plus up to 16 GB RAM for all the chrome tabs you might need. Overall, this is one of the best Chromebooks.

If you don’t have the best impression of the Acer laptops, let Chromebook Spin 713 change that for you. This ChromebookSpin 713 has almost everything you could wish for in an inexpensive laptop. You get a bright and colorful 13.5-inch touch display, an exceptional battery life of nearly 12 hours, and fast performance thanks to the Core i5 processor. Plus, the design is aluminum and 2-in-1, so you can flip the screen over and turn it into a tablet.
With a thickness of 0.7 inches and 3 pounds, the Spin 713 can be easily carried in a backpack on the way to class or work. Yes, the keyboard is a bit flat, and the speaker is perhaps better, but if you want a convertible Chromebook at a low price, you won’t do better than the Acer Chromebook Spin 713. Overall, this is one of the best Chromebooks you can buy at the moment.

The Samsung Chromebook 4 is the best Chromebook for people with a small budget and impresses with its battery life. This laptop has surfed the Internet for more than 10.5 hours on a single charge. The aluminum lid of the Chromebook 4 makes it look like a much more expensive computer – although it has a plastic bottom. The performance of this Chromebook is another highlight that makes multitasking much faster than I expected for this price.
The Chromebook 4 is also thinner and lighter than competing 11.6-inch Chromebooks, although we want the screen to be supported by touch input and rotation. Its screen is acceptable for everyday use, but don’t expect the colors to pop or many details to be seen when watching movies or spending time on YouTube. The speakers are fine, but we recommend that you use your headphones in a crowded place.

The Chromebook x2 also features a crisp, clear screen, high-quality sound, and a comfortable keyboard for robust typing. The Core m3 processor is not great, but it’s powerful enough to work mainly in the cloud. The keyboard and pen are also included in the price at HP.

The best Chromebooks keep the spot price and efficient use of Chrome OS in balance – and the HP Chromebook 14 is the perfect example. Although it resembles the Acer Chromebook 15 in many ways, this 14-inch Chromebook is a bit more compact and looks a bit better. The HP Chromebook 14 has a bright blue color and a screen that has been made to glow and offers the best value for money of all Chromebooks in this list. Even if battery life and performance are average, the HP Chromebook 14 is by far one of the best Chromebooks so far.
We were especially impressed with how slim and light this Chromebook is, which means that the HP Chromebook 14 is an excellent device for those who want a durable laptop that they can carry comfortably. If you want a device that you can work on while lying on the couch, this is also a good choice. In addition, unlike some other Chromebooks, the Chromebook 14 has numerous connectors, including an HDMI output, USB 3.0 type A and a microSD card slot, making it a very versatile Chromebook.

Sometimes it’s incredible how much you can get for $300 or less. For example, the Chromebook Duet is a 2-in-1 Chromebook that offers something that Microsoft’s interfaces and Apple’s iPads don’t: the keyboard is included by default. Not only do you get this value, but the Chromebook Duet’s tablet display is excellent in itself, with surprising color reproduction and a sharp 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution.
For smaller hands, the keyboard of the Chromebook Duet may be a little tight, but for this price, any keyboard is a surprise and a bargain. The Chromebook Duet features ChromeOS tablet optimizations that are long overdue to make the most of all the space on the screen. And all this? It took 12 hours and 47 minutes, almost 13 hours. All in all, this is one of the best Chromebooks available today.

If your child needs a laptop and it is used for the basics, the Dell Inspiron 11 Chromebook is the most appropriate device. The spill-resistant keyboard is ideal when your child is having a drink or when you’ve slid your coffee over when you want to help him with his math homework – all for under $300. When your child is in distance learning, the laptop speaker becomes quite loud to hear the teacher. And since the Inspiron 11 is a 2-in-1 device, it can easily be turned into tablet mode to use the touch screen. If you need more storage space, you can expand the internal capacity with a microSD card.
